All Summer in One Day

The cave you fear to enter, holds the treasure you seek...

  Ray Bradbury ...

" One of the best authors ive read about, his short stories are good, but I prefer his books." she said

Ray Bradbury, with his unique type of writing,
has blowed many kids’ minds. His way of speech, his stories, their themes, everything is all a mix of basic concepts that build his stories bigger, each time higher. In my opinion, he is the best story teller I have read about, the way he gets through our minds and takes our imagination flying till the sky, it’s amazing.  I think we get to visualize his characters with the clues he gives and we get to know some of each, but even dough clues are given, there’s also space for imagination. Nor like Roald Dahl, he gives many details about his characters and his personalities, that don’t leave so much room for reader’s interpretations.

She was a very frail girl who looked as if she had been lost in the rain for years and the rain had washed out the blue from her eyes and the red from her mouth and the yellow from her hair.

And the sky around it was a blazing blue tile color.

How do you picture it ...

The Importance of Memories

A unscheduled holiday is announced by the speakers of the community. Lily, Jonas and his parents were surprised. Everything seem rare because it never happened, it was a very good thing for it to do. When holidays happened , adults were exempted from work, children from school and training our volunteer hours. At this point, Jonas hasnt taken the pills for almost four weeks. His stirrings came back and he was a bitt embaraced about what he dreamed. After all this, he knew that he couldnt go back to the world of no feelings he had live for so long. He started thinking that his feelings also came from the memories he recieved. By this point of the book he could see all the colors, but most important, he could keep them. He is also starting to think that theres an elsewhere that things came from and an elsewhere that things go. Jonas is realising that when Lily said he was angry becausa a kid broked the rules in the playing area, he sees that it isnt true, that normal people havent , never, experienced feelings. Psssheeewww!!! was the only thing that Jonas heard, he starts getting frustraded because he is the only one that knows what is real warfare and his friends are playing like if war was just a game. He tries to explain what he thinks, but obviously his friends would not understand him, they just think he ruined the game.

By this point of the book, I starting changing my perspective because at fist I thought that Jonas would be the hero of the story and that he could change history, but now, I think and starting realising that Jonas sees that he cant change something, he cant do a major change, so he starts seing the importance of memories and that that is the reason that people dont understand him, because of memories. People wont undertsand him because he is the only one who has memories and feelings. Thats why sometimes he feels lonely .... and he says that the worst things about memories is not always staying with them, is the loneliness of thoose..

There are tons of examples about this quote in our daily life. Sometime we dont see the important things in the moments that dont seem much important, and when we lose those moment with some person ... we notice that they once were important. Five days ago my granpa died. Evendough he wasnt the father of MY father, I did loved him, he was the best grandpa I could ever asked for. Know I regret dont spending so much time with him, or prefering to be doing other things that spending time with him. But now things are done and the only thing I have from him are MEMORIES, and I value very much that now ...

Going back to the book after all the things mentioned before, we get to know what is release...

Jonas father has been killing babies all his carieer. He does not have the fault because he dosnt have the knowledge to know what is killing, but Jonas is very surprised of what his father does. We also nos know that Rosemary was The Givers daughter ....

The Importance of Colors

IMAGINE   our world without colors ...

Jonas is now starting to see all the colors our normal life has. We see colors every day, eventually we never stop watching thoose. Just imagine... it would be like watching an old movie , but in would be your life.  Further in the chapters, The Giver transfers Jonas the
memory of animal poacing wich is then tried to be
passses to Lily, but he cannot because Lily does not has the capacity to see beyond. "Is just that without the memories its all meaningfull."  When this frase comes into play I thought many things. Jonas is starting to see many things that other people cant, experience things that the majority of the population had never even thought about , hes taking the decisions that are going to influence in a good or bad way in depth in the story, like decide to to take the stirrings pill.. Hes also noticing that its not fair that other people cant see or do what he does. Hes also changing his perspective and his point of view about life of what is really meaningfull in it. For example, when he sees all his friends playing like if there would be a war, hes very frustraded becuase he knows that the other kids havent get the memory and they dont know what it really feel like and they take it as a game. Maybe in his inside he is trying too see a way to communicate all his thoughts to his friends, but he cant because of his rules.

Finaly I enojoyed the most when at the end of chapter 16 The Giver decides to give Jonas the memory of love, I think things are also going to change becuase of the Giver's decicion. One effect are the pills , so lets see what happens next !!

The Best Thing about Memories, is Making them !

People CHANGE ...Memories don`t

"Ash!" he called, spotting his friend near the rows of bicycles. "Ride back with me?"
"Sure." Asher smiled, his usual smile, friendly and familiar. But Jonas felt a moment of hesitation from his friend, an uncertainity.

As mentioned before, Jonas lives in a society thats under CONTROL. Further into the book we get to now that Jonas is the new reciever of memories. What most captured my attention is how Jonas reacts towards a new rule he must follow or that he has acces to. Even dough he cant take advantage of it. I see it interesting because theres things that at first doesnt seem interesting but when Jonas goes deeper into the details and explaining what they realy mean, they are really worth some attention and furthermore, a bit of thinking beyond.

Everything changes in some way we cant see...

Going back to what is hapening, the Giver is introduced to Jonas by a woman who unlocked the doors that gave path to were the old reciever of memories was. This surprised Jonas because no door in the commuinity was allowed to be locked. The second thing that impacted Jonas was the hundreds, thousands of books that there were in ther room. After a long discussion between The Giver and Jonas , The Giver has already given Jonas the memories of snow and sunburn. Sunburn was very painfull
for Jonas, he couldnt get the word out of it
and he g ts fustraded.

Once again, there was just a moment in wich things werent quite the same, werent quite as they had always been through the long friendship. Perhaps he had imagined it. Things coldnt change, with Asher.

When I started reading this quote, I stared thinking about how friendship might change the course of things. How do things we do reflect the affectness and love we have towards our friends, and it is the same what they feel for us, than what we feel for them? What mostly made me think deeeper into this quopte, is that I pictured myself in Jonas situation. He is in a new world, and he has so many new things to get used to, and the only thing he has, from scince he has memories, is Asher. He expects nothing to change, but now he knows everything is different, and that it is not going to be us it was before.

You are now probably thinking, why is rule number eight there again. I put it there because I considere it of so much importance through out the entire book. Theres so much perspectives from what we can see this phrase. Evendough theres only three words in it, there are like a thosands thoughts that right know go to my head, only by reading those. In this phrase I want to go back to todays class discussion becuase; remembrer the question, what is the difference between honor and power? I think that in this quote, we have a great example for both. From this rule, Jonas could take advantage in so many ways that cold take him to have so much power. But he could also dont do a big deal and have great honor for what he controled and that its going to bennefit not only him, also others, his community.

So a question for you...

Which one is more impoirtant, HONOR or

POWER
